International Scientific Congress "Apostle Paul and St Gregory Palamas. From the ecumenical to the hesychastic theology"

The Centre of St Demetrios and St Gregorios Palamas Studies and the Centre of Apostle Paul Studies, in collaboration with the research net of the School for the Textual and Hermeneutical Ecclesial Tradition (THET), organize an international scientific congress on the subject:
“Apostle Paul and Saint Gregory Palamas: From the ecumenical to the hesychastic theology”
on Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28 in the amphitheatre Δ of the Faculty of Theology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The aim of the scientific congress is to emerge aspects of the theological thought of these two men, which converge and concur in subjects of the spiritual life in Christ, and to highlight the reception way of Paul’s doctrine by Palamas’ hermeneutics. Paul, as the founder of the church of Thessaloniki during the times of the Roman globalization, and Gregory Palamas, as the bishop of the Byzantine city during the crucial times of the encounter between East and West, they both ferment, within the common tradition, the Living Bread and they offer him as word and as experience to “those who hunger and thirst after righteousness”.
The general subject of the congress purposes to the cultivation of a hermeneutical approach which combines the biblical with the patristic theology, maintaining the specific character of each discipline but, simultaneously, utilizing the single orthodox hermeneutical tradition. In this regard, the specialized lectures of the congress give the opportunity to deepen in the theological thought of the two top theologians of the Church.
