Welcome to the Apostle Paul Studies Website

The Centre of Apostle Paul Studies is a Research and Educational Centre for the Pauline studies. It was established by the Senate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Session no. 2862/26-06-2013) after the unanimous decision of the General Assembly of the School of the Pastoral and Social Theology (Session no. 501/09-04-2013).  It operates in the context of the Thematic Net of the School for the Textual and Hermeneutic Ecclesial Tradition (THET) and it is administrated by a seven-member scientific Commitee.
 
The objective of the   Centre is:
Studying the person and the work of Apostle Paul and his contribution to Theology, to History and to Culture over time and universally, as well as his contribution to the ecumenicity of Christianism.
 
The aims of the Centre of Apostle Paul Studies are:

  • Encouraging the research of the Pauline studies by an interdisciplinary way, not only through Theology, but also through Philology and Literature, through History and the science of Law, through Ethics and Sociology, through Archaeology and Art
  •  Promoting internationally the orthodox hermeneutical approach of the Pauline literature and contributing to the inter-Christian and interreligious dialogue according to the ecumenical sense of the Orthodox Theology
  •  Providing undergraduate and postgraduate students with educational and research opportunities in Pauline studies at a more advanced level and in conjunction with the disciplines mentioned above, as well as with theoretical and practical training in these study fields
  • Developing and producing new research and educational material relevant to the Pauline literature and to their impact to Theology and Culture
  • Especially, presenting and highlighting the influence of Apostle Paul and his work to the life and the culture of the city of Thessaloniki, Veroia and Philippi, and in general of Macedonia, where he founded a number of churches.
